Garve

The village of Garve lies in a remote part of the Ross and Cromarty area of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. This is a region popular with walkers, climbers, outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike; offering breathtaking contrasts and spectacular landscapes as well as some of the oldest rock formations in Europe that date from the Cambrian and Precambrian age. The people of this region are primarily engaged in tourism, crofting and fishing. Garve is found on the Black Water River with its diverse wildlife habitats and abundant flora and fauna. Although the setting is indeed remote, thriving Inverness can be reached within a half an hour as Garve is on the main road to the west coast.

 

Garve offers some amenities and with good road connections and a railway station is within reach of further developed towns and cities that offer additional choices for dining, shopping and leisure. The railways station at Garve is on the Kyle of Lochalsh Line, serving the north of Scotland. At the eastern edge of Loch Garve, the village has spectacular views and many wonderful walks into the surrounding area amongst the picturesque, unspoilt scenery of the Highlands.
