Garlieston

Garlieston is a small and attractive planned coastal village located in the Dumfries and Galloway council area of south-west Scotland. It was founded in 1790 by Lord Garlies, from whom it takes its name. It neighbours the town of Whithorn, overlooking Wigtown Bay, with the ruins of Cruggleton Castle being only a short distance away to the north; and Galloway House — the seat of the Earls of Galloway — on the edge of the village itself. The settlement was designed with a typically Georgian style. Garlieston is now a sleepy tourist destination, with very good amenities and leisure facilities, including a waterfront bowling green, an attractive harbour, and a caravan site.

It is becoming an increasingly popular holiday home and retirement location, and is growing significantly, due to its fantastic location, pleasant appearance and good transport links.
