Frodsham

The small market town of Frodsham in the county of Cheshire lies just west of the River Weaver, overlooking Mersey Estuary in an attractive, scenic area. The town grew from an ancient settlement that was established by the Saxons and mentioned in the Domesday Book.  Frodsham’s position at the river and estuary led to it becoming an important port and it was of particular note for the export of salt. By 1894 the Manchester Ship Canal was opened through here bringing prosperity and growth with it.

Today the lively market is still held every Thursday and there are good amenities, shopping, eateries and pubs as well as historic sites and attractions locally; including the arts centre, with its interesting clock set into the building and Frodsham Hill that dominates the town, offering stunning views over the Mersey Estuary and wonderful walks.
