The small, picturesque seaside town of Frinton-on-Sea is in the county of Essex and is known for the imbalance of its numerous Churches and lack of pubs. Up until the end of the Victorian era, Frinton was a small town comprising a church, a few cottages and some farms. R. Powell Cooper invested here in 1890 and had already laid out the golf course that would later welcome the Prince of Wales as a player. Cooper set strict rules here that prohibited boarding houses and pubs. In the early 20th century Frinton-on-Sea was a seaside resort attracting the cream of society and royalty; including Winston Churchill and Edward and Mrs Simpson who will have found a lido complete with palm trees, elegant shopping, quality hotels along the Esplanade and a tennis tournament of such renown as to be considered second only to Wimbledon.

This idyllic seaside town has over a mile of sandy, award winning beach that is enhanced by over 1,000 beach huts that line the promenade. The beach huts have been a part of Frinton life since Victorian times. Visitors can still enjoy excellent shopping, eateries, the lovely promenade and a wealth of seaside activities including swimming, sailing and windsurfing… but just one pub.
