Freckleton

Freckleton is a relatively large village the Fylde coast in Lancashire, England, neighbouring Kirhkam and the seaside resorts of Lytham St Annes and Blackpool.  The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book and the name is said to derive from "Farmstead of a man called Frecla" and was once used for the supply of water to the Roman fort at Kirkham, which was also a ship-building port for which the local community manufactured and supplied rope and sail cloth. The street names of Freckleton reflect this heritage.

Freckleton has staged an annual half-marathon each June since 1965, which is the longest running half-marathon in the United Kingdom. The village is very traditional, with plenty of popular pubs, shops and amenities to hand. Freckleton offers an excellent vantage point from which to enjoy the Lancashire countryside along with the attractions of the local holiday resorts, family attractions and historical sites of interest.
