Fowey

The small town of Fowey is also a seaport, located in the scenic county of Cornwall at the mouth of the River Fowey. This picturesque region and town are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a natural harbour, pretty esplanade and attractive town.  There are many historic buildings in the town, including the ruins of St Catherine's Castle; a small fort commissioned by Henry VIII to protect Fowey Harbour. The harbour remains a focal point and is a haven for yachtsmen, with thousands of yachts arriving every season.

 

Fowey has ample amenities, eateries and pubs as well as good shopping that are enjoyed by visitors and those on the cruise liners that pull into port. There are plenty of sites of interest, historic buildings and visitor attractions both in the town and surrounding area. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Fowey offers a good choice and walkers particularly will discover the pleasure of gentle strolls along the Esplanade or more challenging hikes around the cliffs.
