Forest Row

The village of Forest Row in the pretty county of East Sussex grew from a small hamlet to become one of the 'Gates' of Ashdown Forest. At the point where the old turnpike road begins its ascent of the forest ridge, the village formed around the 19th century; with prosperity and development coming with the arrival of the railways in 1866 and the opening of the golf course in 1889. Surrounded by the lush Ashdown Forest, Forest Row has retained much of its rural character as its growth has always been limited by the forest boundaries.

Traditional cottages mingle with more modern constructions and lovely village greens, giving Forest Row its charm and tranquillity. The village offers ample amenities, eateries, pubs and good shopping as well as access to the delights of the surrounding forest; abundant in wildlife, flora and fauna that makes it popular with bird-watchers, walkers and nature lovers.
