Fleet

The town of Fleet in the county of Hampshire is a relatively new town that started out as a scattering of inns serving those journeying on the Basingstoke Canal that started passing through here in 1792. It was the arrival of the railways in 1840 that saw the significant growth and development of Fleet. With travel to and from London now a possibility, visitors and commuters came to the area. Fleet Pond Station was built for the benefit of travellers and the railway company promoted Fleet Pond as a destination. Some Londoners decided to settle here and homes were developed to accommodate these new commuters. Fleet is a place of modern structures with just a few examples of older buildings.

Fleet offers visitors ample amenities, shops, eateries and pubs along with plenty to see, do and enjoy within the area. Lovely walks are available and the Fleet Pond Nature Reserve is a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors. The 'pond' is the largest freshwater lake in Hampshire and has been popular with skaters during the winter months.
