Finchingfield

Finchingfield is a picture-postcard village in north of the English county of Essex, in the south-east of England. It is prettily situated in a primarily rural area neighbouring Saffron Walden, Braintree and Thaxted. It was an official coaching stage on the London to Norwich road, which gained the settlement some prosperity, although it was already well established by the Norman era, and there is archaeological evidence that Roman villa once stood near the site of the current village church.

The village features an ornamental duck pond and traditional village green that is surrounded by attractive Georgian and medieval cottages, a village church, and an 18th century windmill. It boasts excellent transport links and a good choice of holiday accommodation, including several caravan parks, hotels, and guest houses, along with good local shopping prospects and a varied selection of pubs and restaurants. Popular attractions in Essex include Colchester Castle, Colchester Zoo, Waltham Abbey, Mangapps Railway Museum, Epping Forest, and Hedingham Castle, to name only a handful, along with all the sites and attractions of London, which is just a stone's throw away.
