Ferryhill is a small market town in south-central County Durham, in North East England. It developed in the 19th century around the coal mining industry, which earned a heritage of excellent transport systems and a network of local waterways that now help to make it a very pleasant tourist destination, surrounded by extremely beautiful views and natural wonders.
County Durham also features many historical landmarks, including substantial remains from the Norman period, such as portions of Durham Cathedral the castle, as well as in several parish churches throughout the county.
