Eyemouth

Eyemouth is a small estuary town and fish port in Berwickshire, on the Scottish Borders, near Berwick-upon-Tweed. The town gets its name from its location at the mouth of the Eye Water river, which flows into the North Sea. The Berwickshire coastline is characterised by high cliffs overlooking deep clear water, and sandy coves with scenic harbours, making it a popular location for painters. Eyemouth is a particularly prime location of this scenic part of the Scottish East Coast, with its wide bay framed by high cliffs. Much of the original fishing village is still preserved in the narrow streets and vennels of the town, which is rich in historically fascinating sites illustrating the smuggling habits of the town's previous inhabitants. The town offers a choice of hotels and bed & breakfast holiday accommodation, as well as excellent shopping and good links to a large number of local villages.

Popular attractions in the local area include the fortifications and military museum of Berwick-upon-Tweed, Paxton House, the Union Bridge at Tweed, the Chain Bridge Honey Farm, the scenic walks of the Cheviot Hills, and the Conundrum Nature Trail. The World of Boats is a very popular attraction in the town, which showcases a collection of almost 400 boats and 300 historic models from around the world.
