Exmoor

Exmoor is one of the UK’s most popular, diverse and picturesque National Parks, stretching over two counties and including over 34 miles of majestic coastline. Exmoor National Park is on the Bristol Channel coast with the vast majority of the park located in Somerset and the rest in Devon. Exmoor is more than 250 square miles of hilly, open moorland dotted with towns and villages, the largest being Porlock, Dulverton, Lynton, and Lynmouth. Exmoor National Park also has the Brendon Hills, the East Lyn Valley and the Vale of Porlock within its boundaries.

Exmoor became a National Park in 1954, although it has always been an area renowned for its incredible countryside and was formerly a Royal Forest and hunting ground. Several areas of the moor have been declared Sites of Special Scientific interest due to the diversity and abundance of flora and fauna. Visitors come to Exmoor National Park for a host of reasons; the walking, climbing, rivers, scenery, attractions and activities as well as the character of the villages and towns.
