Eskbank

Dalkeith is a town in the Scottish council area of Midlothian, for which is acts as the main administrative centre. It is situated within commuting distance of Edinburgh, on the River North Esk and has a population of around 12,000 people. From 1401 to 1540 it was a burgh of regality, with the settlement of Dalkeith expanding south-westwards from the 12th-century castle that is now Dalkeith Palace. 

The Dalkeith town centre is characterised by its historic core and broad highstreet marketplace, and the suburbs by large Victorian houses. The village of Newbattle and Newbattle Abbey are also nearby. Attractions in the area include Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Cathedral and and the Scot Monument.
