Eccleston

Eccleston is a village of 5,000 people in Lancashire, England, which obtained its name from the Celtic word "eglēs", or "church", and the Old English word "tūn" meaning "farmstead". The village is located by the River Yarrow and developed as an agricultural and weaver dwelling, eventually gaining two textile mills which are now closed. The "Old Mill" now houses an antique and collectables retailer and the "New Mill" is now a small village shopping centre. Although not a very big tourist destination in itself, Eccleston does have several attractive hotels as it is a pleasant place to visit and to enjoy the landscape of a traditional Lancastrian village, with good access to further attractions in the area including Camelot Theme Park, Astley Hall, the Martin Mere wildlife reserve and more.
