Ecclefechan

Ecclefechan is a small village in the county of Dumfries and Galloway, in southern Scotland. It features in a song composed by poet Robert Burns, entitled The Lass O' Ecclefechan, and is a traditional village, following the classic format of simple but quality shopping, reputable pubs, and good transport links. It is situated in the scenic valley of the Mein Water, which is a tributary of the River Annan, near to the English border.

The area is popular with visitors for its scenic views, and wealth of historical sites, including Thomas Carlyle's birthplace "The Arched House", which is maintained by the National Trust for Scotland, and a is very popular tourist attraction, as is the large Roman Fort of Burnswark, which overlooks the village.
