The little market town of Dursley is in the diverse county of Gloucestershire, a scenic county that includes the Cotswolds, the Royal Forest of Dean and the Severn Vale. The town sits in a wooded valley with outstanding surrounding countryside and views from high-ground, out across the River Severn to Wales, the Malverns and Bristol. The Parish Church of St. James here was built in the 13th century and although it lost its original spire, the Gothic version that replaced it in 1708 is magnificent. Dursley flourished as a market town and in 1738, the pillared Market House was built and included a fine statue of Queen Anne.
The town centre of Dursley is a pretty place with its Market House at its heart, serving as the Town Hall as well as the location for the monthly Farmers' Market and other town events. Further down Parsonage Street you will find the town's main shopping area with plenty of shops, eateries and pubs; and for those wanting to take it all in, Cam Peak towers over Dursley, offering breathtaking views.
