Duntocher

The village of Duntocher in Dunbartonshire, Scotland has long been settled as evidenced by the ruins of parts of the Roman Antonine Wall, visible in the local Goldenhill Park. The stone and turf fortification was built by the Romans to mark the furthest and most northerly boundary of the Roman Empire; the Antonine Wall stretched between the Firth of Forth and the Firth of Clyde. Duntocher has grown and developed in more recent centuries around its cotton and corn mills that were driven by the Duntocher Burn.

Duntocher is a traditional Scottish village with the main Dumbarton Road, home to the vast majority of the village amenities, shops, pubs and eateries as well as the churches and village hall. There are three churches here in Duntocher; the Roman Catholic church of St. Mary's, the United Presbyterian Church and Duntocher Trinity, Church of Scotland. The area that surrounds the village is rich with natural beauty, wildlife and diverse flora and fauna, attracting walkers, bird-watchers and outdoor enthusiasts.
