The town of Diss in Norfolk is built around a vast lake that is one of the deepest natural inland lakes in the country. Diss is also within the beautiful Waveney Valley, a picturesque area popular with walkers. The town centre is home to striking architecture with excellent examples of Georgian and Edwardian buildings and the town still hosts a weekly market in the square as it has for over 500 years now. The best place to explore the history of the town and its people is at the award winning museum to the north of the Market Place and the wonderful Steam Museum and Gardens at Bressingham.
Diss offers ample amenities, shops, eateries and pubs as well as historic buildings and wonderful open spaces and parks including; a public park, the Mere and just south-west of the town centre is Fair Green which hosted the Diss fair from 1185 to 1872. The Green is still the place to go when travelling fairs and circuses come to town. The market is vibrant and colourful and held every Friday to coincide with a local antiques and collectables auction.
