The town is separated from the neighbouring village of Dunipace by the River Carron. Denny was a heavily industrial town with several iron foundries and brickworks, along with a coal mine and paper mill.

Its most notable building is the impressive former Town Hall, which is now known as Denny Town House.

Popular attractions in the area include Callendar House, Bannockburn, Smith Art Gallery & Museum, Stirling Castle, and the National Wallace Monument, to name only a few.
