Deal

The seaside town of Deal in the county of Kent, is a former fishing, mining and garrison town that is mentioned in the Domesday book. King Henry VIII commissioned the building of Tudor Deal Castle here and Julius Caesar is said to have landed on the Deal-Walmer coast in 55 and 54BC.  Deal gradually grew from a small fishing village and by the end of the 13th century, was an important port that became the busiest in England.

 

Deal offers the visitor and resident an excellent range of independent shops, two weekly markets, wonderful architecture, cultural attractions, castles and a pier. Deal its reputation as being a quiet seaside resort with quaint architecture and a genteel atmosphere. The vistas are beautiful and with the coast of France just 25 miles across the Channel, it can be seen on clear days.
