Dalton-in-Furness is a small town neighbouring Barrow-in-Furness, in Cumbria, England. Historically, Dalton it was the capital of Furness and the ancient parish of Dalton covered the area which is now the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness. It is situated on the eastern side of a glaciated valley that spans across the peninsula. The ruins of Furness Abbey are just over a mile to the south of the town.
Dalton-in-Furness is on the board of the famous English Lake District National Park, and also has a number of tourist attractions within its own borders, including Dalton Castle , which is a 14th-century peel tower built by the monks of Furness Abbey, and the South Lakes Wild Animal Par, which is a zoo housing a large number of animals and endangered species from around the world.
Dalton is also the childhood home of artist George Romney, and the birthplace of award-winning artist Richard T. Slone.
