Cromer is a coastal town in the north of the English county of Norfolk, 23 miles away from the county town, Norwich. The town carries the motto "Gem of the Norfolk Coast" to reflect its popularity as a seaside resort, which began in the early-19th century, with numerous affluent visitors taking annual breaks in the town at their summer residences, including King Edward VII, who liked to play golf in the town. The late-Victorian Cromer Pier now houses the Pavilion Theatre. The town also carries the nickname "Poppyland" as so many of them grow in the area.
The town offers an excellent range of amenities to suit the holiday-maker, with a particularly good choice of holiday accommodation, a varied high street and countless restaurants, pubs and entertainment venues. Local attractions include the Cromer Museum, the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) Henry Blogg Museum, and the Amazona zoo park.
