Crieff is a market town in the Scottish council area of Perth and Kinross, between Greenloaning and Aberfeldy. It is a re-emerging tourist destination with a rich history in the whisky trade and tourist attractions that include the Caithness Glass Visitor Centre, the Glenturret Distillery, and Innerpeffray Library, which was established in 1680 and is Scotland's oldest lending library. This is a destination that in recent century was a relatively exclusive location for the wealthy businessmen of the primary cities, which is still evident in the number of grand villas in the area.
William McGonagall wrote a poem about the town entitled "Crieff", which included the lines:
"Ye lovers of the picturesque, if ye wish to drown your grief,
Take my advice, and visit the ancient town of Crieff."
Which sums up the town's character and appeal perfectly.
