Creetown is a small but very scenic seaport village in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright, in South-western Scotland. It is situated at the head of Wigtown Bay, neighbouring Wigtown and not far from Castle Douglas, and once served as a port from which the local granite was exported for use in the construction of Liverpool docks and other well-known landmarks. The village of Creetown occupies a much sort-after location, and is surrounded by the ancient Ballock Wood, which offers a network of walking routes that extend outwards into the surrounding hills from the village, and back to the Curling Pond wildlife area.
