Cowdenbeath is a town and historic burgh in the Scottish council area of west Fife. It is situated 5 miles to the east of the town of Dunfermline and 18 miles to the north of the capital city, Edinburgh. The town developed largely as a result of the many coalfields in the area but now serves mainly as a commuter dormitory and commuter base as a result of its excellent location and convenient transport links. It occupies a low-lying and and pleasantly rolling landscape consisting mainly of farmland, by the Ochil Hills.
Attractions in the area include the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum, Abbot House, Dunfermline Abbey and Palace, and the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum.
