Cowbridge is a market town in the Vale of Glamorgan in Wales, neighbouring Cardiff. The town is founded on the site of what is believed to be the Roman fort of Bovium, or cow-place, portions of which have been excavated. A Roman road that passes by the town is now a popular walking route. It once featured a crossing known as 'cow-bridge' over the stream that flows through the town.
Notable landmarks of the town include the Cowbridge clock tower, which was of 1836, and the Elizabethan town hall, which was a substantial prison until 1830, when it was converted to its current purpose. The six remaining prison cells now house the Cowbridge Museum.
