Carluke

The town of Carluke is situated in a pleasant location at the heart of the Lanarkshire countryside, in the Scottish council area of South Lanarkshire, 5 miles to the west of Lanark. It developed mainly during the industrial era, as a mill town for the production of corn, cotton, and coal, with some manufacturing. Carluke is mainly a commuter dormitory serving the larger towns and the city of Glasgow. It has good amenities, and a variety of small shops and supermarkets at its centre, which supports the neighbouring villages of Braidwood, Forth, Kilncadzow, and Law. Jock's Burn, Lanark Museum, Craignethan Castle, and the New Lanark World Heritage Site, are just a few attractions that are popular in the local area.
