Burghill

The charming village of Burghill in the county of Herefordshire is set amidst rolling hills and picturesque countryside. The area is popular with tourists who come to enjoy the availability of outdoor pursuits including, golf, cycling, riding, bird watching and lovely walks passing apple and pear orchards. The village has a fine Norman Church, St. Mary the Virgin as well as other historic sites and places of interest nearby.

 

Burghill is a tranquil village with a local pub but few amenities; it is however within easy reach of more developed towns, including the historic city of Hereford just four miles away. Visitor attractions and historic sites are plentiful in the area, including the magnificent Hereford Cathedral with its blend of architectural styles, ranging from Norman to Victorian. The cathedral houses a medieval map of the world, the amazing Mappa Mundi that dates from 1300. Most visitors to Burghill though are here for the delights of the countryside that incorporates the hills of The Marches on the borderlands, the beautiful River Wye and miles of winding country roads.
