Burford is a picture-postcard small town by the River Windrush in the scenic Cotswold hills of Oxfordshire, in England. This is a very ancient town with a fascinating history. It was the location of one of the 7th century Synods in which the early British Church and the Roman Catholic Church disputed the proper date of Easter. It was also stated in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles as the site of a vicious battle in AD 752, between the Saxons and the victorious West Mercians.
The Cotsworlds attract visitors from all over the world due to the charming gently rolling hills and quaint "typically-English" villages for which they are identified. Just a few of the attractions of the Cotswolds and of Oxfordshire in general include: Uley Tumulus, Blenheim Palace, the Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens, the North Leigh Roman Villa, and Kelmscott Manor.
