The town of Bridgend is located in the Welsh County of Glamorgan on the River Ogmore, over which a bridge crossed and thus the name ‘Bridgend’ came to be. The River Ewenny also passes by this town to the south; making for lush countryside and catering for plenty of outdoor activities. The original medieval settlement here on the banks grew up around the pilgrims’ river crossing point and was dominated, as today, by the imposing hilltop castle.
Bridgend experienced a period of tremendous growth at the end of the 20th century and is a now a bustling town with exceptional shopping, a great choice of restaurants and eateries and a rich heritage from the days of zealous pilgrims who waded the fast flowing river en route to the shrine of St. David in Pembrokeshire.
