Braithwaite

Braithwaite is a village located by the Barrow Fell in the north of the English Lake District National Park. It neighbours the well-known holiday destination of Keswick, and the breathtaking Grisedale Pike ridge. The village boasts a good choice of traditional pubs, along with a camp site, a caravan park, and several quality Bed & Breakfasts and guest houses, making it an excellent base from which to enjoy the sites, activities and attractions of one of the most acclaimed regions in England.

Like many of the villages of Cumbria, Braitwaite is characterised by its traditional charm and picturesque stonework cottages. The Coledale Beck passes pleasantly through the village before joining Bassenthwaite Lake, on which a number of watersports activities are on offer, including sailing and canoeing, along with various dry-land activities, such as abseiling, hang-gliding and orienteering, in the higher reaches of the valley. There are also a number of walks to enjoy for various fitness levels at the nearby Whinlatter Forest.

Just a few of the many notable attractions local Braithwaite include (but are by no means limited to): Grizedale Forest, with its adventure course of rope bridges and 60ft zip slides; Peter Rabbit and Friends; Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum; the Mirehouse Historic House and Gardens, which offers various activities for all the family; the Silverband Falconry; and the Cars of the Stars Motor Museum.
