Bradwell on Sea

Bradwell-on-Sea is a village on the Dengie peninsula, which is in the English county of Essex. It is neighbours the historic town of Southminster and the ancient Pandole Wood, which contains earthworks that are believed to date from the Iron Age.

The village was a Saxon Shore fort at the end of the Roman occupation. The Romans named Othona, while the Anglo-Saxons had perviously called it Ithancester. It was here that Saint Cedd founded a monastery, in 653, the church of which survives as the restored chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall.

The village has a popular sailing club and good outdoor leisure facilities
