Boxford

Boxford is a village and civil parish in the county of Berkshire in England. It is situated on River Lambourn, neighbouring Newbury and Westbrook. This is a pretty village that is characterised by thatched cottages and a feature watermill. Berkshire offers numerous popular attractions, including: Windsor Castle, Bispham Abbey, the Berkshire Downs, Ashdown House, and the Museum of Reading, to name only a few.

Several archaeological discoveries have been made in and around Boxford itself, including a Bronze Age urn; pottery fragments from the Iron Age, in particular, a La Tène pot; and a possible earthwork near Borough Hill. A large Roman building was also excavated in the 19th century at Wyfield Farm. The Roman Road of Ermin Street also ran close to the village, a good portion of which is still visible.

The ‘Boxford Masques’, is an outdoor midsummer festival held each year in the woodland of Hoar Hill to celebrate the performing arts. The hill is also a popular place for walks in the area, offering scenic views over the Lambourn Valley.
