Borrowdale is the picturesque valley of the River Derwent in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England. The Borrowdale valley is strewn with numerous traditional Lake District villages, including the popular tourist destination of Keswick, at the northern end of the Derwent Water lake. While the area is an extremely popular tourist destination in general, it is a particular favourite of hikers, due to the high concentration of peaks, or "fells", in the region that follow the route of Wainwright's Coast-to-Coast Walk.
The various small towns and villages of the valley offer a good choice of quality holiday accommodation including various camp sites, youth hostels, and a range of hotels and Bed & Breakfasts; while a regular ferry service provides links between key locations on the lake.
Just a few of the many notable attractions in and around Borrowdale include (but are by no means limited to): Grizedale Forest, with its adventure course of rope bridges and 60ft zip slides; Peter Rabbit and Friends; Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum; the Mirehouse Historic House and Gardens, which offers various activities for all the family; the Silverband Falconry; and the Cars of the Stars Motor Museum.
