Bolton is a village in the aptly named Eden district of Cumbria, in North-West England, near the historic market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland. It occupies an enviable position on the River Eden, in the breathtaking Upper Eden Valley. The area is characterised by its rural charm, rolling valleys and waterways, along with a much more relaxed atmosphere than the heavily tourist-centric towns and villages of Lake District , while still affording ease of access to all of the natural beauty spots and attractions for which Cumbria is renowned.
The village itself features a traditional pub restaurant, the Eden Vale Inn, and a selection of convenience shops, creating a pleasant focal point for guests of the various number of self-catering cottages, hotels, and campsites in the area.
