Boat Of Garten

Boat of Garten is a small village in the administrative area of Badenoch and Strathspey, in Highland Scotland, by Loch Garten. The settlement is named after a ferry that crosses the River Spey, although the village developed as a result of the arrival of the Highland Railway. It is known simply as "The Boat" to locals. Its pretty scenery and ample amenities make it a very popular destination from which tourists can explore the area, with a well-regarded golf course that was designed by James Braid.

On the outskirts of village there is also a small bird viewing area where the rare Slavonian Grebe nests in early summer under the protection of the RSPB reserve of Loch Garten. There is also an extensive woodland around the village with various many signposted walks. National Cycle Route also passes by the village and runs parallel to the steam heritage railway track towards the neighbouring village of Aviemore.
