Blanefield

The settlement at Blanefield is part of the Strathblane area in Stirlingshire, Scotland is within an idyllic setting to the east of Dumgoyne, the prominent hill at the edge of the Campsie Fells, visible from Glasgow. Dumgoyne is a volcanic plug and at 1,402 feet high, is a prominent and memorable landmark. To reach the plug, there is a path alongside the Glengoyne Distillery or alternatively, you could access it via a water-board track from the village of Strathblane. The Glengoyne Distillery is a wonderful attraction too; this whisky distillery has been operated continuously since it was founded in 1833 and produces exceptional Highland single malt whisky. Unlike many malt whisky distilleries, Glengoyne does not use peat smoke to dry their barley, using warm air instead.

As part of Strathblane, Blanefield is within an area where there is ample choice for dining, shopping and leisure as well as historic sites, visitor attractions and wonderful natural scenery, like the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. This was the first National Park in Scotland and is centred on picturesque Loch Lomond. At over 720 mi², the park is the fourth largest in Britain and includes an incredible blend of forests, hills, mountains, lakes and 57 designated special nature conservation sites. The long distance trail, the West Highland Way passes close to Blanefield and brings walkers to the area from all over the country.
