Blakeney is an ideal place for those seeking beauty and tranquillity in a stunning area at the edge of The Forest of Dean, yet easily accessible to many major towns, cities and attractions. The Cotswolds, Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Hereford, Worcester, Ross-on-Wye, the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, the Malverns, the Welsh Borders, unspoilt sandy beaches in South Wales, cathedrals and of course, castles are all within an hours drive of here.
The village of Blakeney is quaint, small and welcoming, with an excellent well stocked shop, a takeaway, post office, hairdresser, church and doctors' surgery. Blakeney Hill offers incredible vistas if you reach the top, the views of the Severn Estuary and parts of Gloucestershire beyond are breathtaking.
This area is rich with activities, attractions and sites of historic or scenic note; there is even a recently built model village based on the forest itself. The Dean Forest Steam Railway, Clearwell caves and 4000 years of mining history add to the pleasures to be enjoyed, as does the popular Bird of Prey centre. Through the Forest, a pleasant drive or walk leads you to Symonds Yat and the Wye Valley, where Tintern Abbey stands by the river.
Several nearby golf courses should be enough to satisfy the golfers in your party, with the prestigious St Pierre at Chepstow, two at Coleford, a friendly 9-hole course close by at Lydney and the well known Monmouth Golf Club.

Rock climbing, caving, canoeing, 4x4 off-road and quad bike courses too are located here in The Forest of Dean.
