The seaside village of Birchington-on-Sea in the county of Kent, is located on the North Sea and said to be Kent's largest villag. Built beside four sandy bays; Minnis Bay, Grenham Bay, Beresford Gap and Epple Bay, it is Minnis Bay that is popular with families as it is a long, rural sandy bay with rocky and shingle areas, promenade and paddling pool. The village established its parish church of All Saints, back in the 13th century; the 19th-century Pre-Raphaelite artist, Dante Gabriel Rossetti is buried in the churchyard here.
The main activity is of course the seaside and at Minnis Bay with its sailing club, windsurfing area, seal watching trips and kite board lessons available, there’s plenty to enjoy. The three smaller beaches offer stunning scenery and places to explore as they are surrounded by chalk cliffs, cliff stacks and caves. The town has good amenities with shops, eateries and pubs.
