Billericay is a small town in the county of Essex that is a popular location for those commuting to London. Billericay is known to have at least two very prosperous periods in its history, the Tudor and Georgian; there are 49 listed buildings here that are testament to its past. In the 13th and 14th centuries some of the Canterbury Pilgrims passed through Billericay before crossing the Thames at Tilbury which would account for the abundance of Inns in the town.
The High Street of Billericay has many lovely historic buildings to explore, as well as friendly traditional pubs, a choice of eateries, good shopping with independent retailers and many lush, green spaces; including Norsey Wood, Mill Meadows Nature Reserve, Queen's Park Country Park, Sun Corner, Lake Meadows, Hanningfield Reservoir and South Green.
