Ashtead is a village located just beyond the Greater London Urban Area, within the Green Belt of Surrey and surrounded by Ashtead Heath and Ashtead Downs. It is an older settlement that is known to have existed since at least the Roman era, with a Roman villa having been discovered and excavated at Ashtead Common. It is listed in the Domesday Book as Stede. This is an attractive traditional village, with a good high street, several pubs, a recreation ground, and a skate park, offering a peaceful but convenient location from which to explore the sites and attractions of the English South East.
