Arisaig

The village of Arisaig in the Scottish Highlands lies on the ‘Road to the Isles’ that is actually an ancient road as well as a primary route for visitors. Travellers have long passed this way and emigrants from here founded Arisaig in Nova Scotia, Canada. There is a small passenger ferry that sails from Arisaig to the Small Isles of Eigg, Muck and Rùm. To the east of Arisaig lies Loch nan Uamh, The Prince's Cairn, marking the spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie finally left Scotland for France after the unsuccessful Jacobite Rising of 1745.

Arisaig is a small Highland village with few amenities but within reach of further developed towns offering additional choices of shops, eateries and attractions. Arisaig is associated by many with its links to World War II. Arisaig House, like many other houses in the area, was used as a training school by the Special Operations Executive during World War II. More about the past of Arisaig can be discovered at The Land, Sea and Islands Centre. Spectacular scenery, lovely beaches and breathtaking views bring visitors who come to enjoy the abundant natural attractions here.
