Argyll

The Argyll region of western Scotland includes the high rugged hills of Oban in the north, the islands of the Inner Hebrides, Mull and Iona, the southern peninsula of Kintyre with its adjacent islands Islay and Jura and Scotland's first National Park, Loch Lomond as well as the Trossachs in Dunoon. Visitors come to lose themselves in the unspoilt landscape of glens and bays, to savour the hospitality in villages dotted with whitewashed houses or to take in just some of the incredible history of Argyll at Inveraray Jail built in the 1820’s, Inveraray Castle with its picturesque turrets that was once home to the Dukes of Argyll or the majestic beauty of the Kintyre peninsula where it meets the mainland at the thriving fishing village of Tarbert.

 

There is so much to enjoy in Argyll and a host of attractions, historic sites, places of interest and diverse natural landscapes to explore including; historic Campbeltown, the beautiful beaches of Carradale, the ferry ride to the bird-watchers’ favourite destination Gigha, the island of Islay, renowned the world over for its fine single malt scotch whisky or any of the other unique and charming islands of Argyll.
