Anstruther is a small town in the Scottish council area of Fife, that is divided into two halves by the Dreel Burn stream. It adjoins the village of Cellardyke and is located 9 miles to the south-east of the town of St Andrews; and is the largest community on a stretch of the north-shore coastline of the Firth of Forth that is known as the East Neuk. Anstruther began as a fishing village, and for this reason it is home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum, but now it is mainly orientated towards the tourist industry, offering a range of holiday accommodation and good facilities that include pleasure craft rental, a golf course, and sightseeing pleasure cruises from the harbour to the Isle of May. The nearby Isle of May is the UK's No.primary puffin location, in addition to being a haven for various wildlife and seal colonies.
The town is also notable for the Cold War secret nuclear bunker, which was built in 1951 beneath a regular domestic building, and has now been renovated and opened to the public as a museum.
