Aberdovey

The seaside resort village of Aberdovey in Gwynedd, Wales is found in a picturesque spot on the estuary of the River Dyfi and within the Snowdonia National Park; an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty popular with walkers, climbers and outdoor enthusiasts.. The town itself reaches from the seafront all the way back up the steep hillside behind. Aberdovey grew and developed as a result of the shipbuilding industry and has a rich history going back to the days when it had its castle. Little remains of Aberdyfi Castle, only the motte attests to this once significant castle that was founded in 1156 to face the threats from Owain Gwynedd, who had assembled an army to march on Ceredigion.

 

Aberdovey is a thriving resort with plenty for visitors to see, do and enjoy including a vast range of outdoor activities and water-sports. Aberdovey is popular for sailing, sailboarding, rowing, canoeing and fishing as well as offering delightful boat trips. There are ample amenities, shops, eateries and pubs as well as visitor attractions, historic sites and a wonderful seafront area with a yacht club, pier and award-winning beach.
