Abbots Langley is a large and ancient village in the English county of Hertfordshire. Habitation of the area has been traced to prehistory, and attributed to the settlement's situation in a clay drainage basin that is covered in a top layer of gravel, which serves to keep the water-table easily accessible.
The village offers a pleasant and convenient location from which to explore a break in Hertfordshire, with a good choice of popular pubs and restaurants, numerous independent and exclusive retailers, along with a good choice of holiday accommodation. The village is also home to the Leavesden Film Studios, where scenes from the feature films Goldeneye, Sleepy Hollow and the Harry Potter series have been filmed.
